True Reciprocal Link

Posted by admin - January 18th, 2010

You may be familiar with automatic link exchange services, however, being a member of several of them I can assure you there are some shady webmasters out there who do not reciprocate after they have agreed to exchange or they hide your reciprocal link “in the back” where the automated link exchange software can locate it as directed, but the search engines will never find it.

Manual link exchange does take more time, but it’s worth 10 fold more than an automatic link exchange service can offer. Dead links on your site or exchanging links with webmasters who are not reciprocating properly is of no value to you.

True Reciprocal Link Exchange is of great value and these Link Partners are GOLDEN!

If you are going to exchange links… Make it count!

When you are looking to exchange links with someone, there are several important items to look for.

Ensure the site you are exchanging links with has a reciprocal link directory/pages located ON their domain.

Third party link exchange services are NOT recommended. These webmasters pay to use the service, when they decide they no longer want to pay for the service, your exchange is no longer valid. Don’t waste your time.

Ensure your link partner clearly shows their directory from their main page with either of these link texts

-Links -Link Exchange -Link Exchange Partners -Link Partners -Link to Us -Add your Link -Resources -Other Sites

Ensure their link exchange software is Search Engine Friendly.

You can validate outgoing links as a spider sees it by using a Search Engine Simulator. Looking into it you’ll be amazed at how many scripts available do not provide you with proper back link credit.

Ensure they have a functioning online registration form for you to fill in for exchange requests.

I have experienced quite a lot of request for exchanges with websites who asked me to email them the location of my link, only to see that the email bounced back to me 2 seconds later. Again, time is money, use your time wisely.

Keep within your Niche Market. Keywords that you would use to promote your site is a good indicator of similar sites you should exchange links with.

Manually exchanging links will take some time, but if done right, these exchanges will count.

The Importance of Correct HTML Syntax in Search Engine Positoning

Posted by admin - November 10th, 2009

There is a lot of competition to get good spots in the search engines. Proper
html syntax and a clean code will help toward better positoning.

With website design mostly done with wysiwig editors now, there seems to be a
lot of reliance on these tools without realising that they are far less than
perfect.
Software like frontpage tend to produce a fairly complicated html code and we
as users just assume that because it is software generated there won’t be any
problems with it.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Wysiwig software is very often unable
to properly integrate additional code e.g. affiliates links, adsense code,
shopping cart codes etc.
The more complicated the page, the higher the chance of there being a
problem with html.

It is quite surprising how many sites there are out there with html problems.
Just run a few competitors pages through the a validator and you will see.
Today’s browsers are extremely tolerant and will still display a page properly
that has all sorts of problems. But it is a different story with robots. They like it
simple and easy and will generally take the path of least resistance — almost
human, aren’t they ?

So let’s say we have two competing sites, both are suitable for the top spot and
the search engine has a tough time deciding who to put first. There is a very
high chance that the validated site with proper syntax will be the winner.
Validation of the html on your site alone will certainly not secure you a high
rating, but as with so many other things it will help and might even be the
contributing factor to get you across the line.

Also a very important point for webpages using SSI, PHP etc. It is sometimes
difficult to validate code offline as there are many small bits that are put
together by the server. So you really don’t know what you will get in the end. Be
sure you validate all of these pages and do it with an online tool.
My favorite html validator is validator.org

And a case to the point: I recently installed a datafeed code for an affiliate site.
There was one error in the product display, two tr and td tags where the
wrong way around. And as each page listed over 20 products the errors of
course accumulated…

It will only cost you a bit of your time to validate and maybe a lot of time to fix
all the problems, but believe me it’s worth it!

Go and validate!

“How To Write Effective And Unique Articles That Are Optimized for the Search Engines”

Posted by admin - March 9th, 2009

It is a well known fact that writing, distributing and posting articles to various location on the web is an extremely effective way to generate targeted traffic and establish yourself as an experienced marketer in your field. Unique articles that help solve the reader’s problems, assists the reader in advancing their marketing acumen, or otherwise generally inform tend to stay posted on many web sites throughout the Internet and usually generate targeted traffic for the writer.

In order to further maximize the benefits of writing and posting unique articles, it makes good business sense to optimize the articles so the search engines list the URL’s associated with those articles on search engine results pages (SERP’s). Ideally, you’d like to see your article URL on the 1st page of the SERP’s so you can capitalize on the free and targeted traffic from these listings.

So, what type of strategy can be utilized to optimize your articles for the search engines?

There’s quite a few different ways but here are some tactics that you may want to use:

Article optimization tactic 1: Choose keywords that complement your USP and name your article page accordingly.

When choosing keywords that will be the central theme of your article, it is necessary to define what your article will be about, who the information in the article will benefit, and how it will tie into your USP before choosing your keywords. After you’ve thought through this, then come up with a list of keywords that will be suitable as the central them of the article.

Next, decide which keywords you will center your article around based on the number of searches that keyword gets per day and by assessing how much competition there is for that keyword phrase. Once you have chosen your keyword phrase for the article, name your page.

Example: If ‘green widgets’ is the keyword you wish to base your article on, you may want to name your web page ‘greenwdgets.htm’ or ‘greenwdgets.html’ or ‘greenwdgets.shtml’.

Article optimization tactic 2: Utilize keyword in the title tag.
Utilize your keywords that you’ve chosen for your article in the title tag of the web page.

Example:

Article optimization tactic 3: Utilize keyword in headline tags.
Using keywords in headline tags will increase rankings of your web pages.

Ideally you would use the keywords as the headline, but usually this doesn’t look natural.

Keep the h tags before and after the entire headline.

Example:

Green widgets: We have the most affordable and powerful green widget available anywhere, guaranteed!

Article optimization tactic 4: Utilize keywords in the 1st sentence of the initial paragraph.

This an easily be accomplished and still make the paragraph read well and in a natural sounding tone if read back. Remember that you want your reader to feel like they are being talked with not “at” and you want your reader to not realize that your placement of your keyword phrases might be planned.

Article optimization tactic 5: Utilize keywords in text with appropriate keyword density.
After you write your article, you can easily edit to try to obtain the best keyword density for the search engines you’d like to target.

Google’s optimum keyword density is between 1.5% to 2.5% keyword density at the time of this writing.

Once you have the article written you can use GoRank’s keyword optimization tool (http://www.gorank.com/seotools/) to check what the keyword density is of the text of the article so you can edit accordingly.

Remember, you don’t want to ’stuff’ the page with your chosen and targeted keyword phrase but you do want to make sure that you utilize your keywords when you can up to the required amount for the desired keyword density.

Article optimization tactic 6: Bold or italicize keywords in text.
When bolding and italicizing your keywords in your articles, it isn’t necessary to bold and/or italicize every keyword phrase. When the reader comes across bolded and italicized words they add emphasis to the text at the time they read those words. So you should use your best judgment as to what looks right and ‘reads’ right when you edit your article.

One key item to remember to write naturally so you get your message across in a human manner.

You want the reader to click to your link at the end or in the body of the article and the more human and conversational your article comes across, the more likely that the reader will travel to the URL you’d like them to see. Some marketers write their articles without search engine optimization in mind and then go back and edit them for the search engines.

After your article is optimized, do all you can to get it posted to other web sites so the number of relevant links pointing to that article is heightened. If you get your article posted to some of the heavier web sites that post articles and have the correct categories where your article will fit, the faster your article URL will get indexed by the search engines.

Building Successful Links

Posted by admin - November 30th, 2008

Every one who has done some search engine optimization melbourne will know that the big factor is building as many links as possible. Though this sounds easy but it is indeed a very very time consuming effort. Would it pay off? Yes, but it will take you close to three months and lots of patience for it to be successful.

Remember one thing : Google likes links to be organic, meaning it can’t be all submitted at once. Physically, it’s a 3-5 links a day. And it does not mean that every link you put somewhere in the internet, it is indexed. There is about a 50-50 chance that it is indexed or not.

Try to get links from relevant authoritive sites. This means that new sites might not help you at all. The link juice is just not available. What you might find is that link exchanges do not work as well. You need people to fill your pot of links and not the other way round.

Finally, you need to get the correct links in or else it will not work. What this means is that you cannot have irrelevant keywords pointing back at you. It will not boost your ranking in google or any search engine.

Go through these points and you will make it up the ladder in google.
